Extracellular matrix and tissue remodeling play an important role in the normal physiological and pathological processes of skin, such as tissue development, injury repair, angiogenesis, tumor infiltration and metastasis. Tissue remodeling involves breaking through histological barriers such as basement membrane zone and degradation of collagen and its interstitial or extracellular matrix. The degradation of other extracellular matrix depends on a group of enzymes secreted by inflammatory cells, keratinocytes and fibroblasts, the most important of which is matrix metalloproteinases.
